The Most Awful Responsibility :: Signed copies

The Most Awful Responsibility

If you would like a signed copy of The Most Awful Responsibility, your options are as follows.

If you are in the United States, you can order a signed copy of the book from Little City Books, in Hoboken, New Jersey. There is no additional charge to get a signed (or inscribed) copy, but you will have to purchase it through them and whatever their shipping costs are. You will be supporting a wonderful local, independent bookseller with your purchase; I have worked with LCB and its owners for many years and they are wonderful and reliable.

Because I currently live abroad, I cannot sign the books themselves — it is too expensive to sign and ship them to the United States. So what I am signing are book plates, which are lovely little stickers provided by HarperCollins, and will then be attached to the books by the fine folks at LCB. My signature/inscription on these are fairly generic by default, but the shipping can be done immediately after the order takes place (assuming they have copies in stock).

This is an example of what a signed bookplate might look like when attached to the book. I am not sure exactly where the bookstore will attach them, but it will be tasteful. Exact messaging may vary!

If you would like a unique inscription to someone, like “To [Name]” — please do not ask me to write something long unless I happen to know you or the intended recipient personally (it just feels awkward, and there is limited space on the plates anyway) — I can do that, but it will take much longer because I will need to mail them to the United States for attaching to the books. I am happy to do this (at no extra cost to you), but just be aware that it may add several weeks to the total shipping.

Update December 22, 2025: Right now the initial orders on these are delayed until January 2026, because of the impact that the new tariffs from the USA is having on the French postal system. (I tried to send a bunch of them to LCB and after a week or so they were bounced back to me.) I have a work-around for January, but at the moment the French postal service is rejecting all packages sent to the United States until they work out how the tariffs are supposed to work for them. So please keep this in mind when ordering… this kind of thing is outside of my control.

Use this link to the book to order it, and make sure you write in the “comments” field of the order before you submit it that you want the book to be signed. If you want it to be inscribed (again, see the caveat above), please write to whom it should be inscribed.
